Imagine Downtown Atlanta

Central Atlanta Progress commissioned a wide ranging study of redevelopment potential for the downtown Atlanta CBD. The team was led by Urban Collage. The work was phased by each of four districts. The goal was to develop a vision plan based upon market realities and community preferences. The City also aimed to support substantial transit investment in the area and improve the pedestrian experience.

During the 1960’s and 70’s, much of downtown had been victimized by real estate speculation. The resulting surface parking lots and underutilized buildings needed rethinking. Imagine Downtown rallied the community to see the possibilities for downtown. Many of the proposed projects have come to fruition and downtown continues to attract investment.
