Now that we are in the heat of summer, the issue of stormwater management boils down to too much of a good thing, or not a drop in sight. I do believe that to affect positive change in accepted and mainstreamed stormwater practices, you need a sound economic argument. ULI does a great job of detailing case studies in three cities that illustrate the positive impacts of green stormwater management. The next time a developer, engineer, or other interested party attempts to insert a fenced off, unsightly retention basin in a project, point them to these case studies. There really is a better way, and it will help their projects’ financial bottom line.
